FELLOW PASSENGER

We walk by this statue a lot in the evenings when we go out for dinner in our neighborhood. It brings back the memories of my daily commute to school on the tram. I enevitably land in someone's lap if the tram starts before I've found my seat. I wonder if the other commuters are placing bets on who I am going to plop onto today?

BUNADS AND NAKED PEOPLE

Here's a few pics of some Bunads. I like the muted colors. Usually I see them in dark blue.

And here are some of the statues that were hanging out with the "angry baby". Technically they aren't naked "people" but it made for a good title.

FEDORA -Oslo restaurant review

On our walk to see the "angry baby statue" in Vigens Park,we stopped off for some brunch at CAFE FEDORA. One of our teachers had told us they serve American food. And I don't mean hamburgers, fries, and hotdogs. More like burritos, chili, cornbread, mac'n cheese,American pancakes, grits, and Bloody Mary's. We were in "hog heaven" as they say in the states. Everything is homemade and delicious. I had a big bowl of grits just like my mama used to make and pancakes and bacon. Steve had the breakfast burrito with homemade salsa. I think we had tears of joy running down our faces while we made happy piggy eating noises. CAFE FEDORA is located at Frognerveien 22. Go there. Now. Eat and be fulfilled.

Maybe the "angry baby" needs to go to CAFE FEDORA ?

OSLO DAYS

Here I am studying hard in Norsk class. It only LOOKS like I'm sleeping.

Turns out the building we are staying in on Oscar Gate (street) was where Arne Treholt lived. He was the Norwegian diplomat that was convicted of spying for Russia. The Norwegians had him under surveillance and were listening in on him here in these flats. It's a very fashionable part of Oslo and quite close to the royal palace. We are enjoying our free time just strolling around the neighborhood taking pictures of the architecture, sketching, and dining out in the many cafés and coffee houses. Here's some more pics of our building and across the street.

Lots of interesting details on all the buildings. And these gorgeous buildings just go for blocks and blocks.

BERLITZING

Just a quickie post here to let you know I'm stuck on the top floor of some building in Oslo trying to learn Norwegian. Unfortunately the flatt we rented doesn't have WIFI ??????? So I haven't been able to use my IPAD. But I'll take lots of pics this weekend and get back to posting regularly. Lessons are 8 hours a day, five days a week. Jeg skal snakker Norsk!
